What’s it about
Raina (Kareena) and Sameer (Salman) Khanna are living in Melbourne, unhappily married. Their love happens at an altar in an orphanage disguised as a divine miracle for Raina who is actually yearning for a last name more than a life partner. However, after moving to Melbourne from Dalhousie, their marriage sours with Sameer’s failed career and Raina’s growing frustation with his lack of interest in her life. After deciding to move to Singapore, Mr Khanna ditches Mrs Khanna at the airport asking her to return back to India. However, the latter swears by her true love and husband worship, not flinching and bit and staying back waiting for her sindoor to come back with a successful career. Along the way she bumps into Akash (Sohail) who falls in love with her and makes her his Mrs Khanna. Doesn’t add up to the logic? Watch the climax to make sense of this half boiled plot.

What’s hot
Locations and camera work in the songs stand out in an otherwise somber proceeding. Kareena is composed and restraints from going OTT in the dramatic scene, a step back from her last attempt (Kambakkht Ishq). Of course her character demands all that serenity and she follows that clue with sincerity. Sohail is in form when it comes to comic timing. He definitely has a flair for the genre which is yet untapped.

What’s not
In the effort to keep the film light and the tempo steady, Prem Soni has ended up cooking a half-baked dish. The story moves at a snails pace in the first half, most of it is gloomy dark and depressing. Sameer and Raina’s constant fights and their inability to address the issues staring them in the face are stretched for effect. Salman’s character’s turn around in the second half is left unjustified. Also Sohail has more chemistry with his sidekick Yash Tonkk than Kareena. Salman’s hair keeps changing length and texture through out the film, perhaps an attempt to reflect the wayward graph of the film’s storyline? Preity is wasted in an item song and so is Deepika Padukone who makes a special appearance in the end.

What to do
Lacking a strong storyline and characters that don’t matter, Mr and Mrs Khanna is too bland a dish to feast on, this Diwali.
